The HLT37215 Certificate III in Pathology Collection (Pathology Collector Course) is a nationally recognised qualification designed for individuals seeking a career as a pathology collector (phlebotomist).
This course provides hands-on training in collecting blood and other specimens, infection control, patient interaction, and workplace health and safety in Sydney. Students will develop the skills and knowledge required to work in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and medical clinics.
Through a rigorous training approach including classroom-based learning, practical hands-on training in our simulated environment and the mandatory work placement experience, students will be well-prepared to enter the healthcare industry and contribute to accurate diagnostic testing and patient care. It is not just a blood collection course, it covers all other pathology specimen collection methods like swabs, urine, sputum, ECGs.

Course Duration
Our Phlebotomy training will be delivered over a period of 30 weeks including all learning, simulated practical activities, and assessment activities.
Work Placement
This course has a mandatory work placement requirement of 62 hours including learning and assessment. NK Training Centre will assist you in finding a suitable workplace for this experience.

Training Delivery and Assessment
Our Phlebotomy course is delivered in a blended mode including face-to-face classroom-based learning, and self-study done in your own time.
You will require a computer and an internet connection to be able to access the learning modules.
Entry Requirements
Certificate III in Pathology Collection in Sydney requires you to have a good understanding of written and verbal English and maths (known as language, literacy and numeracy ‘LLN’). All students who enrol in a course are required to undertake an LLN assessment. While not a prerequisite, we strongly recommend all students be immunised for Hepatitis A and B before enrolling in the course.

- Have completed at least Year 12 or equivalent.
- Be 18 years of age or over
- Have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) number

Computer Skills
As this qualification involves accessing computers for research, reading articles, accessing learning materials, watching learning videos, downloading and uploading documents, we recommend learners have the basic computer skills to engage with all requirements.

This qualification requires working within a pathology services industry which involves:
